POOL 

Rules for Swimming Pool Use at Salter Square,
Carleton Condominium Corporation No.77


Who may use the pool:
  • Only residents with pool bracelets will be able to use the pool – please ensure you bring it with you every time, as the lifeguards will enforce this rule.
  • No more than 30 people are allowed within the fenced pool area at any one time. If numbers exceed 30, the residents will take priority and guests will be asked to leave.
  • Non swimmers aged 10 and under, and all children ages 7 and under must be accompanied by a participating adult or guardian, at least 16 years of age, who is responsible for the direct supervision of the child and is actively in the water within arms reach at all times.
  • The ratio of swimmers to guardians is a maximum of 4 bathers to one guardian (4:1). The ratio of swimmers to guardian may increase to a maximum of 8 bathers to one guardian (8:1) if life jackets are worn by all swimmers in their charge.
  • Children over the age of 10 who show weak swimming skills, must be tested to demonstrate their ability to swim two lengths of the pool uninterrupted, show strong forward movement, and then be able to tread water in the deep end for 30 seconds – 1 minute, they will be permitted to swim unaccompanied if they pass this test. A parent must be present when the child is doing the test; proof of age is required.
  • Guardians are responsible for the children in their care while in the pool area and must directly supervise their children at all times, both in and out of the water.
  • Pets are not permitted in the pool or the pool area.
Dress:
  • Proper swimming attire must be worn in the pool; no street clothes.
  • No street footwear is allowed inside the white line bordering the pool.
  • Babies / children who are not toilet trained must wear a swimming diaper.
Behaviour:
  • Running, shoving, towel flicking, horseplay and foul language will not be tolerated.
  • No social talking to / or distracting the lifeguard on duty.
  • Swinging on the rope and handrail is not permitted.
  • Diving board is to be used for diving and jumping into the pool only! After diving, move out of the way of other divers.
    No diving board horseplay will be tolerated.
  • Swimming at unauthorized times and / or when there is no lifeguard present is NOT allowed and may result in the loss of pool privileges for the season.
  • No objects are to be thrown into the pool for any reason (ie. diving after them).
Health / Sanitary
  • All swimmers must take a shower immediately before entering the pool / deck area and after using the washroom facilities.
  • No person shall pollute the water in the pool in any manner (spitting, blowing nose, urinating, defecating, etc.)
  • Anyone with open cuts or sores is requested not to swim.
  • No food, gum or glass containers of any kind will be allowed inside the pool enclosure.
  • Hair elastics are to be worn at all times by swimmers with hair long enough to be tied back, shoulder length or longer.
Swim Accessories / Toys
  • Only approved life jackets, floaters, flutter boards and eye goggles are permitted in the pool.
  • No other toys or inflatable objects are allowed.
  • No radios are permitted in the pool area.
  • No glasses or breakable objects, bottles, drinking glasses, cups, etc. Allowed in the pool area.

INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR MAY RESULT IN THE LOSS OF POOL PRIVILEGES:
FIRST WARNING – TIME OUT
SECOND WARNING – 2 DAY BAN
THIRD WARNING – BAN FROM USE OF THE POOL FOR THE SEASON
