                                                    GARBAGE and RECYLCING

Overview:
During this past year,  a considerable amount of money, over budget, has been spent in the effort to discourage the increasing number of rodents. Each and every resident is responsible to participate in this effort.

The Board of Directors ask that you use garbage and yard waste bins with secure lids. The unit number should be clearly written on each bin. Garbage and recycling should be put to the curb during the properly scheduled week.  Bins are then to be returned to the exclusive use area or garage of your unit as soon as possible.

We encourage each and every household to comply  with common-sense  rules for a clean and tidy look at Salter.  We can  minimize unwanted animal invaders if we  all work together.

Garbage, recycling and yard waste:

  • Garbage and recycling should not be left on the common elements except the evening prior to garbage/recycling collection. During the week, garbage must be properly stored in the exclusive use area of your unit, inside the garage or inside a shed if available. Residents are expected to maintain strict sanitary conditions at all times by using bins with secure lids. Unit numbers should be clearly written on each bin.
  • Garbage must be placed at the curb or at the garbage pads located in some common parking lots after 7:00 p.m. on the evening prior to collection or before 7:00 a.m. the day of.
  • Blue and black boxes must be put out on the proper days (schedules are available from the City of Ottawa or online) after 7:00 p.m. on the evening prior to collection or before 7:00 a.m. the day of.
  • Yard waste bins can be put out for collection every week.
  • Bins  must be returned to your unit within 24 hours after collection.

Appliances, large items, electronics, tires:
  • If you are disposing of unusual items such as furniture, contact the City to determine how best to dispose of such items. The City does NOT pick up household appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dryers, dishwashers, hot water tanks, furnaces, oil tanks, etc. at the curb. Residents must make their own arrangements to have them taken away. Use participating 'Take it Back!' retailers  such as Best Buy for electronic waste.
  • The TRAIL ROAD WASTE FACILITY, off Moodie Drive, south of Fallowfield Road offers FREE drop off for TIRES, glass, metals, electronic waste, metal and plastic.
  • If any resident leaves items out that are not picked up, the Property Manager will arrange removal and the costs will be charged back to the owner.

Proper Disposal of Appliances

Residents are encouraged to make their own arrangements for disposal of old appliances. Contact CMG if you need assistance. They have some contacts who may be able to remove the item for you.

Remember that the City of Ottawa does not pick up household appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dryers, dishwashers, hot water tanks, furnaces, oil tanks, etc. at the curb.
                                            - Old appliances must be kept in your exclusive use area until arrangements are made.
                                            -  Doors must be removed from freezers and refrigerators to prevent accidents.
