Welcome...

...to the Salter Square website.
This site is managed by the condominium's website committee.
It aims to provide up-to-date information to current and prospective residents of Salter Square.

Salter Square Pool Open!
The pool is open after a few frustrating summers. It's our first time without life guards. Everything seems to be going well.

Thank you to all who have volunteered to help to open, close and test the pool every day. There were a few wrinkles to iron out but everything is going well now. We will be looking for volunteers next summer as well.

EMERGENCY? In the event of an emergency, do not call Dave MacDonald directly, even during office hours:  please dial the emergency number immediately at (613) 736-6280. Of course, these emergencies relate to structural issues. Call 911 for fires or gas leaks.
Carbon Monoxide Detectors -- If you have any gas appliances, you MUST have a CO detector installed in your home. Ontario’s Fire Code has been amended to include new requirements for installation and maintenance of CO Detectors in homes with gas or fuel-burning appliances and with attached garages. Carbon monoxide alarms can be hardwired, battery-operated or plugged into the wall.

Ticks and Lyme Disease Awareness
In Kanata, we live in a moderate to high density area of tick population and a recent research study claims that  one in three ticks tested carry the harmful Lyme disease bacteria.
It's important to do a really good tick check on pets, your kids and yourself.

It is especially important to take precautions when you're out walking on recreational trails, in wooded areas, particularly those areas with deciduous forests or where you might encounter some deer and now also to be aware within our own community.
For more information please check out the Ottawa Public Health website.
Please don't feed the squirrels!
We often receive complaints about residents feeding squirrels. Please be aware that continuing to do so can cause squirrels to become dependent and territorial and ultimately cause damage to property especially when they search for their cache.
Reminder: squirrels should never be fed... shelled peanuts or otherwise!

Walking through the community and seeing the growing number of Canadian flags hung proudly, is a great reminder of the solidarity we are showing  for our front-line workers. We are all in this together!

For the safety of pets and residents, pets are not to roam free at Salter. Please ensure that your pet is under your control at all times.

Pet food should not be left outdoors, as this attracts unwanted wildlife. It is also important that residents keep their garbage in containers to discourage wildlife from easy pickings.

See the Pets section of the Handbook for the complete set of rules and regulations regarding pet ownership at Salter.
